Siren Roughs

Edit: I think I'll take a 3rd stab at this piece when I get back from Calgary in a few days. I'm not quite happy with it yet.

Trying to juggle personal art and helping with home renovations is quite the task. Some process for a piece I hope to dive into after a brief trip to Calgary. The first attempt fell short and I think the second shot is more appealing.

1-excuse the rough scan.

2 - just need to extend the top a bit.

tinker tinker

Did a real quick piece the night before for an apron theme fundraiser/auction for ACAD students called Art Attack a few weeks back.

Apparently not too many showed up so I don't know if my piece even was auctioned off at all, but oh well. I do hope the visual communication students there received a bit of support.

It's not apparent in the photo, but there was a sheen of metallic interference red over the painted portions to pop things out. Nothin' fancy here.

Mr. Gray

Woooh, it's been a doozy of a couple of months, with moving and all. New studio should be set up in a bout a week and a half before I get back from Seattle. I'll be mighty glad to be working on some new illustrations for myself after my little breather.

Till then, here's my first piece of published work so to speak.

Mr. Gray (originally done as a cover for The Picture of Dorian Gray)

I submitted this piece for a Canadian illustrators and photographers directory called 'Work/Life', published by the Uppercase Gallery out of Calgary, AB. The book showcases the day to day practices/ studios and features the work of many talents. I'm very thankful I had the opportunity to be apart of it all.

A preview of the book can be found here

If anyone lives in Calgary, the show runs from June to July, right downtown in the Art Central building at the Uppercase Gallery. I'm sad to miss it.

Great friends of mine and their great work are also featured in the book. Check 'em out.
