Mr. Solomon

Pretty interesting interview about the industry that is illustration by prominent artist rep, Richard Solomon, done over at Conceptart.org. It's a bit lengthy, but interesting enough.

San Diego Trees

During my trip this past summer to the SDCC, I came across these amazing trees that looked like they were made of rolled up paper. Trees that I'll no doubt draw over and over again.

A torso gone too far.

the unexpected.

Sooooo... my nightmare illustration sort of took a life of it's own when it came down to finishing it within a day. I'd say it's quite out of character for me. It felt pretty refreshing to be looser and not so anal about a piece. I'm really trying to step out of my comfort zones and it's a long and humbling process. I feel refreshed to not have to fret over every single piece of work and I'm enjoying the process much more.

This piece is for a show at the Uppercase Gallery in Calgary opening on the 18th just in time for Halloween!

edit: added the pre-PS version.

artburp

The sweet folks at Artburp were kind enough to give me an interview a couple months back. A lot of the work showcased is a bit old, but I hope people enjoy it anyways.

horrid fruit.

Messy sketches for an upcoming illo based on nightmares. I can rarely remember my bad dreams and this is what came out instead.

nuggets

Been occupied with other things as of late. Few illustrations on the go that are lagging. Hope to change that soon.

In other news the latest Applied Arts Magazine is out featuring Canadian student award winners in photography, illustration and design. An older piece of mine is included. Its worth a look for some of the other work showcased if anyone has the chance.
