Frontier Consumption / After The Quake Opening

A while ago, I posted a short preview of a great little western comic written/illustrated by Connor Willumsen, and coloured by me. You can now read if over at his website/blog. Have a gander, his work makes fills me with glee.

Also, After The Quake, a short story adapted into theatre is about to open very soon here in Vancouver. The poster I did for it is around town I here. If you're local perhaps I'll see you there. More info here http://pitheatre.com/quake

Here's a preview of a one of the pages from my very short story in the upcoming Anthology Project that I mentioned a few months ago. The work I've seen so far is wonderful.

See Seven

Done for the See Seven theatre festival here in Vancouver. Could've definately handled things differently in retrospect, but it's another job done.

A quiet return

My my, it's been a moment since I've last made an appearance. My apologies. How has everyone been?

This was done for Pi Theatre in Vancouver. While it's not the final version/crop that will be utilized by another designer, its my personal version. I was filled with glee to be able to work on something related to Haruki Murakami, be it a theatrical interpretation or anything else.

The ARK Project

The ARK Project
out of Argentina asked me to do a super quick illustration for them based on an animal native to my nation for their upcoming book compilation (show and release later this summer) with artists from around the world participating. Originally I wanted the arctic fox, but I think someone out of Scandinavia beat me to it. I opted for something a little closer to home that reminded me of childhood field trips to salmon hatcheries.

Thanks to DGPH for the invite.

The Anthology Project

Update: Just got a few pictures sent to me of the booth at Calgary Comicon. Radness.

My dear friend Joy Ang invited me to participate in "The Anthology Project" with a ridiculously talented bunch of folks from around the way.

If you're in Alberta for the upcoming Calgary Comicon this weekend (April 25-26) you can see the debut of the project, meet a few of the artists and check out the prints they have on sale at booth #509. The book is slated for release early 2010!

Outlaw Territory Collaboration

Thought I'd show a tiny preview of the fantastic work being done by my good friend Connor Willumsen for the western anthology, Outlaw Territory vol 2. I've been colouring pages for him the last little while, but honestly the B/W pages themselves are a pleasure to look at and really hold up on their own.

You can check out more of his work here.

there's work to be done.

Few sketches from my trip to Vietnam and Hong Kong. Didn't sketch too much as I was running around all the time, but it was an intense and rewarding trip nonetheless. What you see here are just a few sketches that turned out alright. I was reminded on the trip that I have to not overdraw too much, as it seems to be a recurring tendency among my doodles.

...and the cherry on the cake! Three wonderful portraits done by my dear friend Vicki, her sister, and her little cousin. Constant sources of amusement. Here's my mug for reference.

Also some photographic tidbits.

Lastly, if you haven't tried Bon Bo Hue and dig the spice, then my friends this is for you! One of my favorite things to eat. Wish I had a bowl right now.

In progress.

Since I'll be gone for awhile, I thought I mind as well post this too. Something that
I've been picking away at and will finish when I get back. I should have taken pictures of the preliminary drawings, but alas they are erased.

Also, boy do wish I had a bigger scanner.

mucking about.

Didn't draw as much as I would of liked to in NYC, but here are some doodles from here and there.

I'm off to Vietnam for a few weeks. Hope to soak in my surroundings a little more on pages.
