"The Fall of Greece": Thug Politics & Coffee Cups

This was published for this month's issue of GQ for an article about how things aren't going so well in Greece.

Their AD had a very specific idea about what she wanted based off of this particular incident on live Greek television with an out of control right wing MP and his fellow politicians.

Combine that with your local bodega's Greek paper coffee cup (I'd never seen them before, but they're everywhere in NYC apparently) and you get the point.

The article was originally supposed to have a double page spread for the front and back of the cup, but alas, the front, depicting the iconic Greek acropolis collapsed instead of three coffee cups, was unfortunately cut from the final publication.

Lastly, some roughs from the whole process.

 My thanks to Chelsea Cardinal.

Japan Cinema Interview

Japan Cinema gave me an interview for their "creative spotlight" section. I'd say there's a really good chance that you'd be able to read it right here.

The Radler + '2 Years Ahead' Zine Market

My friends have put together a zine, called "The Radler", about two very wonderful things on this earth, bikes and beer. I had the pleasure of creating the cover for it.

You can pick up a copy if you're in Hong Kong at the "2 Years Ahead" zine market on Aug. 17-18 (Fri + Sat), from 5pm to 10pm.
Osage Gallery, 5/F, Kian Dai Industrial Building, 73-75 Hung To Road, Kwun Tong.

New site online

New website up! For those that aren't interested in diving through old blog archives for older sketch images, I've added a sketchbook section to the site with some select pages from the past four years.

Technical difficulties

Please note my main website has not disappeared into nothingness, merely temporarily unavailable as I update it's design over the weekend.
Things will be back to normal shortly!

Third Impact!

Here's the final version of my Street Fighter 3 tribute poster. Turns out it won't be in a tribute show as previously mentioned, but regardless, I'm pretty happy with the result. If there's interest, I may make this available as a print. Emails welcome.

Street Fighter 3 Poster Rough

Comprehensive rough for a Street Fighter tribute show I'll be apart of this summer. I couldn't choose just one character to focus on, so instead, I chose them all from my favorite edition of the series, Street Fighter 3: Third Impact. More to come.

"Zodiac Dim Sum" leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I had a great time coming up with Chinese zodiac character illustrations for a year-end review of all the unsavory and tragic moments of 2011 in last year's December issue of GQ magazine. Definitely a challenge in making sure that each animal communicated each action at such a small final reproduction size. It was a short and sweet assignment that was designed by my super-talented friend, Chelsea Cardinal. Besides helping to art-direct the magazine, she also is a wonderful illustrator. I highly recommend checking out her site at www.chelseacardinal.com
